I
am the owner/operator of Big Wally's Guide Service and store, located on the
south end of Banks Lake in Coulee City, Washington. I have lived and fished
on Banks Lake, The Columbia River, and Lake Roosevelt for the past 50 years
(or more). Following is a partial account of some of my involvements in the
fishing industry:
1951-1962: Started fishing Banks Lake at the age of 11, at the time is was
flooded.
1962-1987 Lived in an area where I fished Salmon, Steelhead, and some
Sturgeon. Started guiding.
1987-1992 Moved back to Coulee City and my favorite fresh water fishing
lake. When I moved back I got into Walleye fishing and discovered my real
fishing passion. My guide experience covers the last 28 years of my life.
1992: Started doing Walleye and Bass
seminars in various areas, participated in Berkley's outdoor writers
workshop in Umatilla, Oregon, made a video for Walleye on Banks Lake with
Wally Pease for KYVE-TV Northwest Outdoors, & fished some walleye
tournaments
1993-2001: Many seminars for different outdoor shows, guest speaker on
Seattle, Spokane, & Moses Lake radio shows for the fresh water fishing
enthusiast, films made for TV and for sale with various celebrities,
articles in newspapers, magazines, and books, attended as a participant in
the National Outdoor Writers Conventions, taking outdoor writers fishing,
and shot a video with Department of Fish and Wildlife for NBC news
distribution.
2001-to date: I have been on the Freshwater fish advisory council with the
Department of Fish and Wildlife for many years. Worked with them on various
spawning projects and have a very close relationship with them.
My volunteer history includes, Boy Scouts, Individuals with disabilities,
Department of Fish and Wildlife, Grant County, Royal Rangers, Kids Fishing
Derby, etc.
Because of my retail outlet , exposure, & involvement with the fishing and
outdoor recreational activities, I keep up to date on the newest and latest
techniques and enjoy very much passing this knowledge on to my fellow
fishermen.
